What this is

Connecticut Landscaper Guide lists 321 landscaping businesses across the state, from small crews doing weekly mowing routes to full design-build outfits handling patios, plantings, and drainage work. It’s built for homeowners and property managers trying to figure out who’s actually good in their town before they pick up the phone, not for landscapers looking for a place to post a brochure.

We are an independent directory and comparison resource. We also generate enquiries for local providers: when you ask to be matched with someone, we pass your request to providers relevant to that request, and we may receive a referral fee if that leads to work. That referral relationship never touches scores or earned rankings. The full disclosure on how matching and fees work sits on the quote page, and it’s worth reading before you submit a request.

Where the listing data comes from

Every profile starts with public business data: registration details, service areas, hours, and contact information. We then synthesize recent Google reviews for that business, pulling out patterns in what customers actually say, rather than lifting and republishing the review text itself. If you want to read reviews word for word, we link straight out to the business’s Google listing so you can see the original source.

How rankings actually work

Rankings come from a published rubric, laid out in full on our /methodology/ page, that weighs star ratings, review volume, and how complete a listing is. There’s statistical weighting built in specifically so a brand-new business with five glowing reviews can’t leapfrog an established company with hundreds. Scores are recalculated as new review data comes in, and the whole dataset gets refreshed monthly, with closed businesses pulled from the site. Each listing carries a “last verified” stamp so you can see it’s being actively maintained rather than left to go stale.

A business can flag or correct its own facts (a wrong phone number, an outdated service area, a new address) and we’ll update it. What a business cannot do is edit its own score, adjust the sentiment summary drawn from its reviews, or move its position in the rankings. That part stays entirely data-driven.

Sponsorship, when it appears

Some pages include sponsored placements. These are clearly labeled “Sponsored,” displayed in their own section separate from the earned ranking, and they do not change where a business lands in the rubric-based list. A sponsored spot and a top-ranked spot are two different things on this site, and we keep them visibly apart.

Who’s behind it

Connecticut Landscaper Guide is published by True Level Media, which has run independent local directories since 2026 built on the idea that rankings should be earned, not bought. Editorial oversight of this directory belongs to Dana Whitfield, Editor. True Level Media also operates lead-generation sites in some of the trades it covers, but that side of the business has no access to the ranking engine and no influence on how listings score.
